A Smattering

Psalm 139:1
"O Lord you have examined my heart and you know everything about me."
You know when I am confused. You know when I am angry. You know when I am irritated. You know when I am delighted. You know when I feel suffocated. You know when I can't contain the joy inside. You know when I feel insecure. You know when I am at ease. You know that which I have managed to conceal from others.

1 Thessalonians 4:11
"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your hands."
My husband and my children are my first ministry. Christ is preeminent.

2 Cor 12:9
"I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me."
I want to choose joy, even on the days when the sibling rivalry is at its peak and the clinginess is in high gear and the feeling of being frazzled won't go away. The only answer is to boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christ's power may rest on me. When I am weak, THEN I am strong. My children and my responsibilities overwhelm me and put a new song in my mouth all in the same day.

"Self-pity is satanic." -Oswald Chambers
Teach me not to be a whiner. Teach me to be responsible for my own junk and repent of it accordingly. Teach me not to murmur. Those who complain have little faith. The just shall live by faith! The righteous are as bold as a lion! Teach me not to let those little seeds of self-pity go overlooked. Help me to stomp them out quickly so they don't take root and turn into trees of bitterness. Help me not to justify sin.
