A January Post

1. Pregnant brain is when you throw away the envelope of cash that your husband earned after he played for a wedding. (So glad I realized it before the garbage went out!)

2. Laughter really is the best medicine. We get a little dose of Everybody Loves Raymond on a regular basis and I laugh out loud. Out loud and with my belly. There is a whole blog post in my head about this show, but it will have to come later. For starters, there's Marie Barone. That's a whole post on its own. We never watched this show in the 90s so we figured we would catch up here in 2014.

3. I swam 26 lengths in the pool after taking an unforgivable 5 months (or more?) off from swimming. As soon as I walked in the dome covered pool area, my serotonin levels surged. Such a good feeling to get this belly in some water. Buoyancy: she's like a therapist.

4. Pregnant brain is when you think you're on top of things by remembering your glucose test and planning accordingly and then the doctor's office calls you and says, "Hi, we were expecting you this morning and wondering where you are?" And you realized the whole time you thought your test was the day after the scheduled date.

5. I don't understand why everyone puts their periods outside of their quotation marks these days. Put the question mark outside when appropriate. But please, please let the period back inside!

6. More and more I learn that communication is either at the heart of all harmony or at the core of all discord (real and imagined!). More on that in another post as well.

7. When a blog post comes in the form of a list, it's because my brain is too full to write decent prose.

8. We have a name. Finally. After we meet this little guy face to face, we'll let you know what to call him.

8. Fatigue, third trimesters, mood swings, and January are like an evil concoction that I am forced to drink. Pregnancy is already one of the most bodily things I can do as a woman. Throw in cold temperatures that make Memphis question her identity as a southern city and you've got a cranky mama. I wake up in the night regularly (and inadvertently) and pray for a thankful heart and a supernatural energy. I got sick of hearing myself whine so I figured I should pray more! Oswald Chambers says don't think a spiritual muddle through...OBEY it through!

9. When your cell phones are your only phones and there is no landline in your house, you probably don't turn off your cell phone at night ( in case of an emergency ). This means you hear that random person who called the wrong number at 4 a.m. But when you're pregnant, that's okay because your bladder woke you before the caller.

10. My children are thrilled to be getting not only a new baby brother this year but TWO new cousins. This is what C has prayed for!
